What is SHIFT Home?
SHIFT Home is a smarter way to clean. We combine beautifully designed reusable glass bottles with concentrated cleaning pods, so you can create powerful cleaning products at home while reducing single-use plastic and unnecessary transport of water.
How does the Shift system work?
You buy a reusable glass bottle for each surface in your home, they’re also labelled by area and application to keep it simple. Drop in one of our concentrated pods, fill the bottle with tap water, and your cleaner is ready in 30 seconds. The bottle stays on your counter. The pod is the only thing you ever need to replace.
How long does the pad take to Dissolve?
The pods will dissolve on impact with water and will be ready to use in a few minutes. The Washing up liquid needs to be made with warm water to allow the product to thicken which normally takes around 30 minutes.
Do I need a specific bottle for each product?
We recommend using a glass bottle for each different pod/ application to avoid mixing products and keeping things simple. Our bottles are all named to save any confusion.
Can I use the pods with my own bottles?
You can, yes. The key is making sure your bottle holds the right amount of water so the dilution is spot on. Our glass forever bottles are designed to make that effortless so that no measuring or guessing is needed.
How many pods do I need per month?
As a guide, one cleaning refill, one laundry pack, and one dishwasher pack per month works well for most homes. And if your needs change, you can pause or adjust your deliveries anytime.
Products & Refills
Are your products safe to use around pets?
Yes. Our products are designed for use in family homes, including those with pets. As with all cleaning products, we recommend allowing surfaces to dry before pets come into contact with them and keeping concentrates out of reach.
Are the pods vegan and cruelty-free?
Yes they are, we are proud to have our products externally certified by the Vegan Society and Cruelty Free International.
How do I use the tabs?
Simply fill the bottle with water, add the tab, refit the trigger and give the bottle a shake. You will be ready go in a few minutes.
Are the ingredients biodegradable?
Yes. Biodegradable ingredients are a non-negotiable for us. Everything that goes into our products breaks down naturally, so you can clean your home without it costing the planet.
Can I use my own bottle?
Yes you can, just remember you need to add 500ml of water.
Why does the box have a hazard symbol?
This is only on the raw materials as they are in a concentrated pod. Once the pod is diluted there is no hazard.
My trigger has stopped working.
This does happen from time to time, run the trigger head under the hot tap and spray until it comes back to life. Sadly the trigger will not last forever and will need to be replaced if it still isn’t working. We sell replacement triggers (link to be attached)

How long does delivery take?
Orders are typically dispatched within 1–2 working days. Delivery times may vary during busy periods.
Do you offer free delivery?
Free delivery thresholds and promotional offers are shown at checkout and may vary from time to time.
Can I change my order after placing it?
You can send us an email to hello@shifthome.co.uk and if your order has not been picked we might be able to amend the order.
My order has not arrived, what should I do?
If after 10 days of placing your order it has not arrived, please email hello@shifthome.co.uk and include delivery address and order number.

Subscriptions
How do I become a subscriber?
You choose which pods you’d like to subscribe to and we’ll deliver them every month like clockwork. By joining our Shift community, you will receive 10% off on all orders, for every order as long as you remain a subscriber!
Want to cancel your subscription?
We'd be sad to see you go, but we completely understand. To cancel, simply hit the cancel button in your account, just make sure you do it within 5 days of your next delivery date and you're all set.
Can I pause my subscription?
Yes, simply click the pause button and let us know how long you want it to last.
Can I change the frequency of deliveries?
Absolutely! Choose from monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly depending on how much you use!
Can I swap products in my subscription
Yes, the subscription model was designed to make sure our customers are getting exactly what they want and exactly how much they need.
Is there a minimum length?
The minimum subscription length is 2 months.
How much does a subscription save me?
Subscribers save 10% off every order to the one-time purchase price.
Returns & Refunds
Can I return my order?
If you're not completely satisfied, please contact our customer care team within 14 days of your order. Full details can be found in our Returns Policy.
Contact hello@shifthome.co.uk to let us know about your return, we’ll check everything on our end before giving you the greenlight to return the products back to our HQ.
What if my order arrives damaged?
Reach out to us at hello@shifthome.co.uk as soon as you receive your order, include images as that helps us get everything back on track. We’ll let you know what to do next.
How long do refunds take?
Refunds take up to 14 days. If you request a refund but do not send the items back within 14 days of the request we will not be able to refund your order.

Sustainability & Packaging
Why does SHIFT Home use refill pods instead of traditional cleaning bottles?
Traditional cleaning products are mostly water transported in single-use plastic bottles. Our concentrated pods allow you to reuse the same bottle again and again, reducing plastic waste, packaging and transport emissions.
Why do you use glass bottles?
Our bottles are designed to be kept, not thrown away. Made from durable glass and screen printed directly onto the bottle, they're built to become a permanent fixture in your home rather than another disposable item.
Are your bottles recyclable?
Yes. Glass is widely recyclable and can be recycled repeatedly without losing quality. However, our goal is for you to keep and refill your bottle for years to come.
Why are your bottles screen printed instead of labelled?
Screen printing creates a premium, long-lasting finish that won't peel, wrinkle or fade over time. It also eliminates the need for additional plastic labels and adhesives.
How does using SHIFT Home reduce plastic waste?
By reusing the same bottle and purchasing concentrated refills, you can avoid disposing of dozens of single-use plastic cleaning bottles every year. Each pod removes around 80 grams of plastic.
Where are your products made?
Our products are proudly manufactured in the UK, helping to reduce transportation distances while supporting British manufacturing.
What is the film around the pod made from?
The film is made from water-soluble PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) film, a material specifically designed to dissolve in water during use.
Is PVA film biodegradable?
The PVA films Shift uses are designed to dissolve in water and are biodegradable under appropriate environmental conditions. Independent studies have shown that properly formulated PVA can be broken down by naturally occurring microorganisms.
