We'd spent so long making our home feel right, then realised everything we were cleaning it with felt completely wrong.
Harsh chemicals, hazard warmings on bottles when most of the liquid is water. So we wanted to make a Shift.
The story of Shift Home
One day while unpacking yet another plastic bottle of cleaner under the kitchen sink. We already recycled, reused shopping bags and made conscious choices elsewhere in our home, yet every few weeks we were throwing away another empty cleaning bottle and buying another one filled mostly with water.
It felt outdated and wasteful. We realised there had to be a better way – one beautiful bottle designed to stay in your home, paired with lightweight refills that dramatically reduce plastic waste and unnecessary packaging. That moment became the starting point for SHIFT Home.
We worked our way through every eco-friendly alternative we could find. Some smelled better. Some looked nicer on the shelf. But most made you choose between doing the right thing and actually getting the job done.
We spent two years getting it right. The formula had to match conventional cleaners, no compromises on performance. The packaging had to last. And it had to be simple enough that changing your habits didn't feel like a chore.
We tested it in our own home until we forgot we were testing it.
